September 11, 2001. I will always remember… will you?

Always rememberSeptember 11, 2001.

Do you remember where you were?  Do you remember what you were doing?  Did you find yourself glued to a television?  Were you angry?  Were you sad?  Can you describe the shock you felt?

11 years later… do you still think back to the horror that unfolded during the morning of that clear and sunny day?

I will never forget, I will always remember.  I will forever pay tribute and honour to the first responders that ran in while others were running out.

I will never forget, I will always remember the volunteers who travelled from near and far to help in the search and rescue efforts.

I will never forget, I will always remember the faces, the sorrow, the tears and the heartbreak of those who lost loved ones.

I will never forget, I will always support, “If you see it, say it.” and report anything that I believe to be worth a closer look by authorities.

I will never forget, I will always remember… will you?

Never forget

Great post Tim! I too will never forget and I always remember. I was in 2nd year of college for Paramedic and was glued to the TV. We were told me may be helping out Niagara EMS as drivers while their medics went to NYC to assist.

  3. I was living in Williamsburg at the time. I had just gotten off my train at Grand Central and entered my office building on Madison Ave when a coworker walked past and told me a plane had hit one of the towers. I thought it was a weird joke. When I got into my office a few minutes later I would find everyone hovered around a tv in the conference room. It was there, on tv, that we saw the second plane hit. We cut the work day short and while many went home, or tried to get home, a few of his headed to the pub around the corner and drank in silence with a hundred other people. We drank all day and into the evening and none of us had ever been so sober.

I lost no one, While my colleague attended 11 funerals in a week. In many ways I feel detached from that day, because my experiences were mostly through the television. Except for the posters. The posters of all the missing.

No-one could forget. A call that morning from my wife telling me the first plane hit. The absolute disbelief as the 2nd hit before my eyes. The realization that this was no accident and that people were dying so tragically. What could happen next? Watching planes fly over my house as they were grounded and realizing the magnitude of what was taking place. Seeing the towers collapse as first responders answered, the grey cloud as people fled. And just wondering again, what could happen next.

People posting pictures of their loved ones with despair in their eyes….and all of us seeking answers, trying to understand. A world wanting to help. How could we ever forget that. Yes, I will always remember!

  5. Like the generation before us who will never forget where they were and what they were doing when JFK was shot, I don’t think any of us will forget what we were doing or where we were when we first heard about first plane going into the 1st tower. What followed seemed like a bad “Die Hard” movie. I kept waiting to hear the director yell cut…but it never happened.
I will never forget. As someone who did business frequently in NYC and the towers I can never forget those who perished.

I remember where I was, the day the World stopped turning…. Never Forget 9/11 …http://youtu.be/Tq8PBdR3pg4

  9. I will always remember my mother calling me frantically as she was trying to get into contact with my brother who was working at the United Nations Building in Manhattan at the time. Just writing about it now gives me a lump in my throat. Thankfully my brother was safe but not everyone shared the same fate. I will never forget, I will always remember 9-1-1.
